Bio
Rachid Jaén was born in Costa Rica in 1986, he studied in the Universidad de Costa Rica, and graduated with honors as a Sculptor, since then, he has participated in several group exhibitions, solo shows and public art projects in his natal country.
In his sculpture we can appreciate the use of multiple materials, as stone, plastic, iron, and wood, transformed into light and depurated design abstractions, that serves to express the artist thinking. Changing as the ideas evolve, the materials, have represented trough time different emotions and concepts, transforming from the complementation of forms and otherness, into the chrysalis that protects what’s essential for the human being existence.
Currently, Rachid is working in creating full colored plastic chrysalises, which symbolically safeguard a great amount of methaphors, represented by the use of found objects, or small size sculptures, that tell the story of those ideas and emotions that are preserved into the shell that every human being carries, and that are the core of every persons existence.
